Klarskovgaard is a particularly beautiful underwater site with a unique stone reef. The stones were left behind by glaciers during the last ice age. In some places they lie scattered, elsewhere you find whole piles. The gaps between the stones form important habitats for countless animals – both the fish you know from the fishmonger and rarer species that come to the reef for shelter and food.

From the beach to deeper water

The stones begin right at the shoreline, so watch out for slippery rocks as you enter the water. It is worth the effort: from one metre and outwards, large boulders are spread across the seabed throughout the area.

Stone reefs stand apart from many other Danish dive sites because of the sheer variety of life. Reefs in shallow water receive plenty of light and are often covered in seaweed. Deeper along the reef, the picture changes.

Diving safety

Always follow the rules of your diving certificate. You are responsible for your own safety.
There may be currents in the Great Belt – strength and direction can vary.
Never dive alone; always dive with at least one buddy.
Use a surface marker buoy.
