Fælleden Shelter Site in Holbæk
Stay in a shelter at Fælleden near Lillevang — a town-edge shelter site with views of Holbæk Fjord, meadow birds and sunsets just a walk from Holbæk town centre.

Town-Edge Shelter with Views of Holbæk Fjord
Fælleden at Lillevang is one of the most accessible shelter sites in Holbæk Municipality — and one of the most beautiful. Set on the edge of Holbæk town where the urban area meets the fjord and open meadows, the shelter offers a rare combination: you can walk from the pedestrian street in Holbæk to the shelter in under half an hour and still wake to the sound of wading birds and a view across Holbæk Fjord.
Where Town Meets Nature
Fælleden is one of the green spaces that make Holbæk special. The meadows stretch from Lillevang down towards the fjord in an open, windswept landscape that feels much larger than it is. In spring, lapwings and redshanks breed on the meadows, and year-round you can spot ducks, geese and waders along the waterline. The flat terrain and well-maintained paths make the area accessible to everyone — including families with pushchairs.
Holbæk Fjord as Your Backdrop
From the shelter site you have direct views across Holbæk Fjord, one of the many branches of the Isefjord. The fjord landscape shifts character with the tides and seasons — from mirror-calm water on still summer evenings to dramatic waves when the northwesterly wind picks up. The sunsets over the fjord are in a class of their own, and from the shelter you have front-row seats. It is the kind of view you never quite get used to.
Walking and Cycling Routes
Fælleden is ideally placed for trips along Holbæk Fjord and into the hinterland. The fjord path connects the shelter with Holbæk Harbour and the town centre to the east, while paths westward lead into open farmland and on towards Tuse and Butterup. For touring cyclists, Holbæk is a natural hub with good connections to routes along the entire Isefjord. A night at Fælleden can be the start — or finish — of a fjord tour you will long remember.
Experiences in the Area
Holbæk is a lively fjord town with a rich cultural life. Holbæk Museum, the old harbour with its warehouses, and the many cafés and restaurants along the waterfront offer plenty for a day out. Tuse Næs has fruit orchards and farm shops, and from Holbæk Harbour the ferry sails to Orø — an island experience within easy reach.
