At the open-air stage by Kalvøen in Frederikssund, north-west of Copenhagen, Norse legends become theatre beside Roskilde Fjord. Frederikssund Viking Play is created by volunteers, with performers and backstage teams working together on each production.

Norse stories under the open sky

Viking costumes, scenery and staged combat bring the stories to life. Productions draw on Norse mythology, sagas and legends, exploring power, belief and human choices. The fjord setting forms part of the experience. Performances are in Danish, so visitors should consider this when choosing a show.
