The Frøslev Polde Trail is an approx. 10 km hiking route through a unique landscape.

The trail runs across a heath plain in Frøslev Plantation, where the wind has over time created striking inland sand dunes. These dunes are also known as “polder” – the feature that gives the trail its name.

In the sandy terrain, you’ll find hardy plant species that thrive in dry soil. Keep an eye out for wavy hair-grass, purple moor-grass, mountain reed grass, heather, and crowberry.

Wildlife in the area includes roe deer, red deer, fallow deer – and also adders.

The route starts at the car park by Frøslev Camp and can be shortened to 6 km if you prefer a shorter walk.

The trail is of easy to moderate difficulty, and good hiking shoes are definitely recommended.

It is not suitable for people with walking difficulties or prams.

The route is marked with pictograms and blue dots on trees, and it can be walked in both directions.

The Frøslev Polde Trail has been developed in collaboration with the Danish Nature Agency and Aabenraa Municipality and is marked as a “Hærvejsperle” – a certified quality trail along the ancient Hærvej route.

The European Ramblers Association (ERA) has certified the trail as a day hike in the “Nature delight” category, which emphasizes nature and landscape experiences.
