Glasgalleriet – discover the art of glass up close

At Glasgalleriet by Roskilde Harbour, you can watch the glassblower at work and experience how molten glass is transformed into unique artworks. Here you will find a working workshop, exhibition, and shop, all housed in the historic setting of the town’s former gasworks.

Glasgalleriet’s workshop

In the open workshop, you can get up close to the process as the glassblower, Skak Snitker, works with the hot glass. The material is shaped, blown, and stretched until it becomes a finished piece of Danish craftsmanship. You can explore the finished works in the shop.

Exhibition and shop

The shop at Glasgalleriet offers a selection of unique gifts and crafts. Here you can find everything from vases and bowls to decorative glass artworks – each created with different techniques the artist has developed over many years of experience.

Experiences for groups

If you visit Glasgalleriet as part of a group, you can enjoy a special experience. The glassblower demonstrates how the material is shaped and explains the many techniques used in the work. The demonstration lasts about an hour and is ideal for art associations, companies, and study groups.

Try blowing glass yourself

If you would like to try the craft yourself, you can blow your own glass under expert guidance. Here, 2–3 people get the chance to create a unique piece of glass art, which can be collected the next day. The activity lasts about an hour and is carried out for groups of up to 12 participants.
