Gudhjem Glasrøgeri
In Gudhjem, the heat from the furnace feels almost in dialogue with the sea outside. At Gudhjem Glasrøgeri, glass is created in a living workshop where form, fire and human touch constantly transform the outcome.

Glowing glass at the edge of the Baltic Sea
In Gudhjem, Gudhjem Glasrøgeri sits like a natural extension of the cliffs and the sea outside. Here, glass is shaped in a living workshop where heat, movement and craftsmanship merge into unique pieces in constant transformation.
Gudhjem Glasrøgeri – or “Glashytten” as it is locally known – is the oldest glass workshop on Bornholm, with a history dating back to 1978. Today it is run by glassblower Pernille Bastrup, who has been connected to the place since childhood and has been the owner and active glass artist since 1993.
Here, glass is not just a product but a process. Inspiration comes directly from the Baltic Sea, the cliffs and the changing light around Gudhjem, reflected in organic forms and living expression.
The vision is simple: glass is meant to be used in everyday life. It is in the hands, at the table and in use that the material truly comes alive – not behind glass or on a shelf.
In the workshop, visitors can experience glassblowing up close and gain insight into an old craft that continues to evolve through tradition, creativity and new ideas.
