Stay in a shelter or tent on protected grassland overlooking Solbjerg Engsø and keep an eye out for eagles, or choose a spot in the deep ravine, where steep slopes provide shelter and a cosy atmosphere.

Your hosts on site will ensure you have a great experience with good facilities, and can even offer a breakfast basket or a “Haldbjerg Meal Box” for cooking over an open fire.

Taste nature – creating a forest garden

Your hosts are Tine and Tonny Pedersen, who, over the years, have developed the area with the ambition of sharing this beautiful nature with others who, like them, find peace and joy in being outdoors. Both work full-time alongside this project—Tonny in IT and Tine as a leadership and team development consultant—but they share a strong passion for creating more nature and meaningful outdoor experiences. A key part of this is cultivating parts of the area as a forest garden based on permaculture principles.

In such a forest garden, guests will encounter trees, shrubs, and ground cover that are all edible—whether fruits, berries, leaves, or flowers. So far, fruit trees and bushes have been planted, and over time, more shrubs, ground cover, and herbs will be added. For inspiration and enjoyment, a number of planting boxes have been established with a mix of vegetables, herbs, and flowers that can add colour and flavour to salads and campfire meals during the summer season.

Activities

It is possible to book special experiences such as a wilderness hot tub, guided mountain bike tours in Gribskov, gourmet cooking over an open fire with guidance from a nature chef, natural wine or beer tastings with local products, guided forest tours, or climbing in ancient oak trees. The area is also available for companies as a unique meeting place in nature.

Facilities

The area features five shelter sites, three fire pits, and two large fire shelters that provide cover for cooking and relaxing in bad weather. Each shelter and tent pitch has its own fire pit and picnic table, and all guests have access to the fire shelters, a standard toilet with hot water, and a tea kitchen with a fridge, coffee machine, electric kettle, and electricity. Firewood and Wi-Fi are included.
