Halen on Fanø
On the east side of Fanø you will find Halen, one of the island's fascinating natural areas. Here you will find the landscape where Fanø's history began thousands of years ago. Halen is one of the oldest parts of the island and is an example of the natural forces that still shape the Wadden Sea.
Here the silence is almost total, interrupted only by the calls of birds, the wind in the grass and the changing movements of the sea.
Halen is an important habitat for many bird species and part of the unique natural environment that has made the Wadden Sea a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In spring and autumn you can experience thousands of migratory birds, while the area offers magnificent nature experiences all year round.
For hikers, nature lovers and photographers, Halen is a place where you get close to the origins of Fanø and the dynamics of the Wadden Sea. Here you can experience nature on its own terms - raw, open and undisturbed.
Halen is located on the east side of Fanø by the Wadden Sea. The area can be reached via Halevejen from Nordby.
