Hand-thrown ceramics between Bornholm and the world

At Jans Keramik, Lise and Dirch create ceramics shaped by both local roots and a life spent working in studios across several countries. Today they are based on Bornholm, but experiences from Denmark and Australia still inform their work.

Their ceramics are based on wheel-thrown functional ware in fine white stoneware clay, while coarser stoneware is used for sculptural forms and unique pieces. Porcelain is also part of their more delicate works.

Glazes are continuously developed in the studio, where they experiment with nuances and expression. Inspiration often comes from nature and from many years of travel. Recent themes have included teapots, fish and birds.

In their workshop near Dueodde, the gallery is open to visitors during the summer season, offering a chance to see both the creative process and the finished works in the shop.
