The Library Bar – a hidden gem in the heart of Copenhagen
Behind discreet doors at Copenhagen Plaza lies one of the city's best-kept secrets: The Library Bar, named one of the world's five best hotel bars by Forbes Magazine. Here, you step into a world of classic elegance and timeless charm, where dark wood, heavy curtains and soft Chesterfield chairs set the scene. The shelves are lined with antique books and first editions, and portraits of long-dead aristocrats gaze down from the walls as you enjoy a world-class cocktail.
Since the 1970s, the bar has been a gathering place for bon vivants, actors and musicians – and the atmosphere still exudes exclusivity and historical character. Everything from classic cocktails and champagne to selected single malts and modern signature drinks are served here. The Library Bar also has a long love affair with jazz and often hosts intimate live concerts in true New York style. It was here that Thomas Blachman and his band recorded the album At the Plaza, released on the legendary jazz label Verve.
If you are a small group, table reservations are recommended. If you would like to hold an event, photo shoot or reception in these exclusive surroundings, the bar can be hired outside opening hours – or combined with the hotel's adjacent function rooms.
