Monastery herb garden

The Klosterurter Garden south of St. Bendt's Church is a lovely small garden with plants that could be found in medieval monasteries.

Before the Reformation in Denmark in 1536, the monasteries had accumulated a great deal of knowledge regarding medicine through the use of herbs. The monks tried to apply their knowledge to treat the sick.

The garden's 53 beds are maintained by volunteers.
