Odins Odense Iron Age Village

Step into everyday life in the Iron Age

Odins Odense is located in Stavis Ådal just outside central Odense. The village consists of reconstructions of homes, workshops and other buildings, which together give an impression of what a small settlement may have looked like in the Iron Age.

Here, you can explore the houses and imagine a life where cooking, craftsmanship, animals and everyday work all took place close together. On selected days, you can meet volunteers demonstrating historical crafts and talking about life and work in the Iron Age.

The Iron Age for children

Odins Odense is also a place where children can get hands-on with history. Around the village, you can try Iron Age games, and with an activity basket the family can, among other things, grind grain, play old games, work with yarn and try other activities inspired by everyday life in the Iron Age.

Throughout the year, the village also hosts various events where storytelling, crafts, activities and historical interpretation play an even bigger role.

Before Viking Odense

Odins Odense is about the Iron Age and therefore about the time before the Viking Age, when Odense began to grow around Odins Vi. A visit offers an insight into everyday life, craftsmanship and traditions from the period before the one you encounter on the Viking route in the city centre.

The Iron Age village was founded in 1973 and has since worked to bring the history of the Iron Age to life through reconstructions, activities and living history.
