Palsgaard Sommerspil

Every summer, you can experience a beautiful and well-produced musical performance in the enchanting setting of the lovely park at Palsgsaard Castle

Experience the popular summer performances

Every summer, Palsgaard Sommerspil invites everyone to enjoy a musical on Denmark's most beautiful outdoor stage in Palsgaard Slotspark. Since 1972, a new annual performance has been held on a regular basis which has attracted many guests from all over the country. Palsgaard Sommerspil is an amateur theatre association and the participants are volunteers. However, the set-up is quite professional and the 200 volunteers help to create an impressive setting and unforgettable experiences for the many spectators.

Dolly Parton's 9-5

In 2025, you can experience 9-5, based on the legendary film of the same name that featured Dolly Parton. This humorous musical is about friendship, the thirst for revenge, female empowerment, and, of course, love, all accompanied by fantastic music, including the hit song “9 to 5.”

The show will run from July 31 to August 14.

Picnic in the park

Part of the experience of Palsgaard Sommerspil is sitting in the cosy surroundings of the park. You can book a picnic when you buy your ticket and have it handed to you on arrival. The picnic consists of a delicious tapas plate or a salad and can be enjoyed on a blanket on the lawn or in the large dining tent.

You can also visit the stall, Café Wohlert, where you can buy sausages, beverages, wine, ice cream, sweets, coffee and tea.

You are, of course, also welcome to bring your own picnic.

The beautiful grounds

Palsgaard Castle is an estate with an exciting history dating back to the 13th century. The beautiful, three-winged castle is surrounded by one of the Denmark's largest castle parks, totalling all of 21 hectares. The park is extremely well-maintained and attention is paid to every detail. You can find many rare trees and plants that are signposted so you can read what type they are. There are six smaller lakes, fine sculptures and idyllic old, yellow-washed, half-timbered buildings.

The outdoor stage where performances take place today is located in the middle of the park.
