Rasborg+Paulsen
There is a calm in the workshop outside Svaneke that settles into your hands. At Rasborg + Paulsen, ceramics are made at a slow pace, where clay, nature and experience shape every cup and bowl.
Ceramics shaped by hands, horses and the sea
Just outside Svaneke, you’ll find the workshop of Rasborg + Paulsen, where Susanne Rasborg and Ejnar Paulsen have worked side by side since 1976. Here, ceramics are created at a calm pace, with clay at the centre and nature right outside the door.
Their visual language is inspired by Japanese ceramics and Scandinavian design tradition, but also by the Bornholm landscape, experienced on horseback rides with Icelandic horses. These impressions become part of the work and can be seen in colours, shapes and surfaces.
The focus is mainly on functional ceramics such as cups, mugs, bowls, jugs, vases and plates – objects made for everyday use. From time to time, the workshop also explores unique one-off pieces, allowing new expressions and directions to emerge.
