Restaurant & Bar Botschaft
Botschaft has been created as a culinary ambassador for the German‑Austrian kitchen in Copenhagen – a food tradition that has long stood in the shadow of other European influences in the city.

At Botschaft, the open kitchen sits at the centre of the room, acting as a natural gathering point where the scent of butter, stock and toasted onions drifts through the restaurant and sets the tone.
The menu is rooted in classic dishes from southern Germany and Austria, interpreted with respect for craftsmanship and a wish to show the warmth and depth of this culinary heritage. Botschaft serves dishes such as maultasche, käsespätzle or a light, fluffy kaiserschmarrn – examples of the kind of food that has shaped the restaurant’s identity. In 2026, Botschaft was awarded a Bib Gourmand, recognising its ability to create flavourful, well‑made dishes without unnecessary complexity.
The bar behind the kitchen is a calm extension of the dining room, offering classic cocktails and natural wines. Guests sit around a long bar table that naturally encourages conversation, whether they are easing into the evening or rounding it off. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, and the bar serves as a gentle complement to the meal.
Botschaft was founded by Jonas Keller and Jan Otto Hugel, both of whom have roots in Germany and a shared wish to bring their food culture to Nørrebro. Together, they have created a place that feels grounded and welcoming – a small piece of Central Europe in the heart of Copenhagen, where the food remains the focal point and where guests can experience a tradition that deserves more space in the city.
