Røverknolden Playground

Explore Røverknolden, an imaginative nature playground in the heart of Rold Forest. Here, children and adults can follow the large sensory trail, meet the forest’s animals and mushrooms together with tiny Thumbelina – or have fun playing the instruments in The Musical Outdoor Space.

At first glance, Røverknolden may seem like a small playground. But take a closer look, and you will soon discover a whole world of adventure hidden among the trees.

Play, imagination and forest magic

On the main playground, you will find a slide, zip line, campfire site, tables and benches, as well as a shelter. There is also a rope net, balance boards, climbing poles and a ship that invites children to play, climb and move around.

Around the playground, a large sensory trail winds its way through the forest. Along the way, you will find colourful mushrooms, troll trees with eyes and long red noses, knitted decorations and painted stones shaped like witches, trolls and elves.

Everywhere at Røverknolden, small details appear: carved wooden figures of squirrels, moles, toads, swallows and Thumbelina, among others. It turns a walk around the playground into a little treasure hunt, where there is always something new to discover.

Music, spiders and a badger cave

In The Musical Outdoor Space, children of all ages can try the wooden instruments, beautifully carved and decorated with patterns and funny animals.

On the sensory trail, you will also meet a giant wooden spider and a large spider’s web that you can climb around in. A bell hangs in the middle of the web, so you can hear when the spider has caught something. Further along the trail, you will find the badger cave, where you can crawl inside and see the large badger carved from wood.

There is also a colourful giant worm and a large wooden deer antler, perfect for sitting, climbing and playing on.

A nature experience for the whole family

Røverknolden is beautifully located in Rold Forest, making the visit much more than just a trip to the playground. Here, you are surrounded by forest, calm, imagination and fresh air – which is exactly why the place is loved by both children and adults.

The nature playground does not have a regular address.

You can park at Parkering Røverknolden, just east of Rebild village. From here, it is a few hundred metres through the forest to the nature playground.

Motor vehicles are not allowed at Røverknolden.
