A piece of our cultural heritage – in the middle of Slagelse

In 1585 King Frederik II merged Antvorskov Monastery and Slagelse Hospital into a single foundation. Slagelse Kloster today holds the listed buildings, which contain 33 flats. In addition there is some of the best-preserved medieval architecture in Slagelse – the Holy Spirit House with the Church of the Holy Spirit.

Stepping through the monastery gate, you can almost feel the calm settle. It is like a pocket of time, far from the busy everyday world outside.

Guided tours

Guided tours of the complex are offered during the summer. Please contact the monastery directly for current dates and booking.
