Sleep Next to One of Denmark's Round Churches

It is hard to stay here without visiting Bjernede Church, just a few hundred metres from the shelter site. The church is one of only seven preserved round churches in Denmark and the only one on Zealand. Dating from the 12th century, it carries an atmosphere of the Middle Ages that makes even a brief visit memorable. For families with children, it is a wonderful opportunity to bring history alive — the round architecture and ancient gravestones spark curiosity in visitors of all ages.

Facilities and Practical Information

The shelter site offers a fire pit where dinner can be prepared over an open flame as the sun sets behind the surrounding fields. Drinking water is available during the summer months, and a public toilet can be found near the sports facilities. The site is free of charge and operates on a first-come, first-served basis, giving it an informal and relaxed character well suited to spontaneous overnight stays.
