A night beneath the stars

Experience a truly different overnight stay in one of our four stargazing shelters, surrounded by the peaceful and striking landscape of the Observatory. Here you will find quiet, views and a starry sky – far from noise and screens.

Light the fire, cook in the open air and explore the dramatic ice age landscape around you. Whether you come with friends, family or as a couple, it is an experience built on presence, nature and time for what matters.

Practical information

Each shelter has its own handcart for luggage. A sack of firewood is included with every booking, and there is access to water and a composting toilet on site. Extra firewood can be purchased if you need more.

Dogs

Dogs are welcome at the shelter site, but not inside the shelters themselves. Please keep your dog on a lead while moving around the Observatory grounds.

Accessibility

It is around 500 metres from the car park to the shelters. The path is surfaced and suitable for wheelchairs and prams.

Admission to the Observatory

When booking a shelter on an opening day or the day before, admission to the Observatory can be added. Buying a day ticket automatically includes an annual pass – giving free access on opening days all year round, so you can revisit the exhibitions, the science park and the many daytime activities again and again.
