Suldrup Church

Suldrup Church has roots dating back to the 13th century. However, the church may have been moved or rebuilt around the year 1500. Its oldest furnishing is the Romanesque baptismal font from the 13th century, with a basin dating from 1650.

On the north wall of the church, you can see a small painted rosette, known as a signature mark. It served as the artist’s signature for a larger wall painting that is still hidden behind the whitewashed wall.

A distinctive part of the church’s history is that much of its interior comes from other churches. The pulpit, altar and altar table were brought here from Buderup Deserted Church and are around 400 years old, while the pews originally came from Budolfi Church, Aalborg Cathedral. The two brass candlesticks were donated by Albæk Hovedgaard in 1672.

The church tower is a more recent addition from 1944 and is characterised by its distinctive half-timbered spire. In front of the porch stands a runestone that was later moved to this location.
