Summer Life on Stændertorvet

During July and August, Stændertorvet, the central square in Roskilde, transforms into a vibrant urban space full of summer vibes, inviting relaxation, play, and togetherness. Enjoy green surroundings, explore the market stalls on market days, and soak up the atmosphere in the heart of Roskilde.

Relax in the heart of the city

At the centre of the square, you'll find three mirrored pavilions constructed by local craft students. These structures serve as playhouses, information points, and creative zones, offering access to outdoor games and activities. There are also long communal tables and open seating areas perfect for a break or a friendly chat.

A place for play, movement, and performance

Children can romp around in a large sandbox filled with natural balancing elements such as tree stumps and logs sourced from the nearby Boserup Forest. The area is thoughtfully designed to encourage play and learning in a safe environment.

A permanent stage is set up with the majestic Roskilde Cathedral as a dramatic backdrop. This stage is open to everyone and forms a natural part of the lively city square.
