The Japanese Gardens on Funen are an architectural garden gem where ancient Japanese traditions meet calm, beauty and nature. Eight classic styles of Japanese garden design unfold in harmonious surroundings that invite reflection, sensory experiences and inner peace.

The gardens are created according to authentic Japanese principles and include:- Viewing garden

Nature, plants and materials
Covering 7,500 m², the gardens are carefully composed using more than 5,000 trees and shrubs, 18,800 groundcover plants and approximately 900 tonnes of natural stone. Pruned shrubs and layered trees create a calm and intimate atmosphere.Seasonal flowering
The gardens feature an extensive collection of rhododendrons and irises. Cherry trees, camellias, azaleas, hydrangeas and many other plants ensure continuous flowering from May to September.Meditation and tranquillity
The meditation house offers a quiet space for contemplation. Here, visitors can slow down and experience the garden as a place for mindfulness and reflection.Café with Japanese inspiration
The café serves Japanese-inspired dishes such as sushi and Japanese-style meatballs, as well as Danish food. All dishes are served according to Japanese traditions. Cakes and pastries are also available. The café is open until 5 pm.Shop with Japanese specialties
The shop offers exclusive items imported directly from Japan, including ceramics, glassware, teapots and ikebana. There is also a small, exclusive plant sale featuring bonsai, selected garden plants and specialised gardening tools.Faaborg is more than just pretty
