The Best View in Town

The White Water Tower in Fredericia is a former water reservoir located centrally on the ramparts of Fredericia. Today the water tower is used as a lookout point and offers the best view over Fredericia and the Little Belt.

Experience Fredericia from the Top

Via the internal spiral staircase, you can reach the water tower’s roof terrace, where you are 44 metres above sea level. On the terrace you will find tables and benches where you can enjoy your own food or take a well-deserved break. At the foot of the water tower there are also tables and benches available for public use.

Discover Fredericia’s Historic Buildings in the White Water Tower

When visiting the White Water Tower, you can not only enjoy the beautiful view but also learn more about Fredericia’s historic buildings. Inside the tower you can experience an exhibition created by Museum Fredericia, focusing on several of the city’s older and well-known buildings. What they all have in common is that they can be seen from the top of the White Water Tower.

Discover Fredericia with a 3D Viewer

Try the 3D viewer and enjoy a truly unique experience at the top of the tower. Here you can take a virtual journey around the historic fortress town of Fredericia. The story has been created in collaboration with Museum Fredericia.

The History of the Tower

The White Water Tower was designed by the architect Oscar Gundlach-Pedersen, who also designed two of Fredericia’s city gates. The tower was inaugurated on 2 January 1909 and remained in active use until 1994.

A building placed this high in Fredericia was once a rare sight. When the city functioned as an active fortress, buildings were not allowed to rise higher than the level of the ramparts, as this could create potential observation points for enemies.
