Varbjerg Strand - Havørred Hotspot nr. 114

An exciting stretch with sea trout close to shore – especially at high tide. Remember the protected zones at Storå and Skelbækken, and fish actively along the dark seaweed belts.

Conditions similar to Båring Strand – spot 113. At first glance, it may look like a sandy and slightly dull coastline – but don’t judge a book by its cover. Especially during high tide, sea trout come close inshore to hunt in the narrow, dark seaweed belts.   Note that parking is right next to the outlet of the Storå – which isn’t actually that big – but the stream is an important spawning habitat. That’s why you must walk 500 metres east along the beach before you’re allowed to start fishing.   A further 1.5 km to the east, the Skelbækken stream flows into Båring Bay. This stream is protected from 15 September through 15 March. But from 16 March and throughout spring and summer, you’re allowed to fish the lovely reef right at the outlet.   Best wind: E–S.
