Vesterlyng Camping sits near Havnsø on the border between Kalundborg and Odsherred municipalities, with the Sejerø Bay as its nearest neighbour. The site has one of the best locations in West Zealand for families who want to combine beach life with nature experiences and island adventures. From here it is a short distance to the bathing beach, ferries to the islands, and a hinterland full of attractions.

Between heath and sea

The campsite takes its name from Vesterlyng — the large heathland area stretching along the coast west of Havnsø. The landscape here is something quite special for Zealand: open heath with heather and wild herbs, criss-crossed by paths leading down to the beach. A walk of about fifteen minutes brings you from the site to Vesterlyng Strand, where bathing conditions are calm and child-friendly with shallow water close to shore.

The small harbour town of Havnsø lies roughly 25 minutes on foot from the campsite. The town has a cosy atmosphere with its fishing harbour and ferry terminal, from where boats depart for both Sejerø and Nekselø. The two islands in Sejerø Bay make perfect day trips — Nekselø is best explored on foot with a packed lunch in your rucksack, while Sejerø lends itself well to a family cycling tour.

Facilities for children and adults

Vesterlyng Camping is designed with families in mind. In summer the heated pool with water slide and climbing wall is a natural gathering point for the children. There is a playground, bouncy pillow and zip line, and the youngest visitors can feed the animals in the enclosure. The on-site café is open to everyone and serves food and drinks in a relaxed setting.

It is a quiet, peaceful landscape where you can walk for long stretches without meeting another person.

For anglers there are good opportunities along the coast, and Nordvestsjællands Fiskepark near Kaldred is close by with put-and-take lakes well suited to family outings. Havnsø Harbour is also a fine starting point for sea fishing.

Things to do in the area

West Zealand and Odsherred offer a wealth of experiences within a short drive of the campsite. Birkegårdens Haver near Holbæk is a popular destination with five different gardens, mini golf and a playground. Dyrehøj Vingaard on Røsnæs is Denmark's largest vineyard, where you can taste local wines with views over the Great Belt. Kragerup Gods offers Go High treetop climbing courses, and for history buffs the Viking fortress of Trelleborg lies near Slagelse.
