Just outside Ærøskøbing, Vesterstrand is just a few minutes' walk from the marina and campsite. There's a nice bathing jetty, shallow water and very child-friendly.
The fine sandy beach is beautifully situated in the bay towards Urehoved, where you will often find kitesurfers on windy days. Along the beach you'll find 71 of Ærø's 90 fine and historic beach huts.
It's also traditional for islanders and visitors to the town to head for the beach in the evening. Many fire up the barbecue, maybe get out the SUP board, or enjoy a last dip in the warm waves at sunset.
