Tivoli's Summer Season
Place: Copenhagen. 7th April – 20th September 2026
Spring is in the air, which can mean only one thing: time to come out of hibernation and head straight to Tivoli Gardens for a quick ride on a rollercoaster. The perfect way to shake off the winter cobwebs!
International Viking Market
Place: Ribe Viking Center. Dates: 27th April – 3rd May 2026
More than 500 Vikings from all over Europe flock to the Ribe Viking Centre. The market atmosphere is authentic and intense – just like it would have been in Ribe 1300 years ago. You'll be able to experience how the Vikings lived and worked, visit all the stalls at the market place and see how good you are at trading!
Copenhagen Sakura (cherry blossom) Festival
Place: Copenhagen. Dates: 18th – 19th April 2026
Join the Japanese celebration of the beautiful Sakura (cherry blossom) trees right by Langelinie Park. At the festival, you can dive into Japanese culture and art forms such as drum shows, folk dance and martial arts. You can test your skills with workshops, listen to lectures, or you can just have a cup of tea and admire the people dressed up in beautiful kimonos.
SPOR Festival
Place: Aarhus. Dates: 22nd – 26th April 2026
SPOR is a festival in Aarhus for contemporary music and sound art. International sound art SPOR creates a platform for stronger connections to the international sound art and music scenes - and encourages a fruitful exchange that can inspire artists and further develop Danish contemporary music.
SPOT Festival
Place: Aarhus, Denmark. 1st – 2nd May 2026
The ambition of the SPOT Festival is to create a promotional platform for Danish and Nordic music. The festival’s repertoire is dictated chiefly by the will to support new bands and upcoming artists predicted to succeed internationally.
Wool Festival
Place: Saltum. Dates: 9th – 10th May 2026
Each year, around 20,000 people go to the small coastal town of Saltum to participate in the biggest annual wool festival in Scandinavia. The Festival showcases the best wool and wool crafts and is all about creativity and design with beautiful quality, amazing colours and skilled craftsmanship.
Copenhagen Marathon
Place: Copenhagen. Date: 10th May 2026
The annual Copenhagen Marathon course weaves through the Inner City of Copenhagen, passing iconic landmarks such as Rosenborg Castle, the Marble Church, Tivoli, and Kongens Nytorv. Thousands of spectators will gather in a huge street party at Dronning Louise's Bridge, before the journey continues with cheers, music, and DJs through Nørrebro, Vesterbro, Frederiksberg, and Østerbro. Since 1980, it has been held in May with around 10,000 participants each time.
Aalborg Carnival
Place: Aalborg. Date: 23rd May 2026
Aalborg's carnival is the largest in Northern Europe, with up to 60,000 participants in the Grand Parade and more than 100,000 spectators watching the magnificent wave of colours along the parade route. The parade moves through the streets of Aalborg and ends in Kildeparken.
CPH STAGE
Place: Copenhagen. Dates: 28th May – 6th June 2026
The CPH STAGE is a theatre festival focusing on the Danish performing arts, both old and new. Taking place in Copenhagen and the district of Frederiksberg, it includes alternative venues, activities in public spaces and genre-breaking projects.
Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen
Place: Copenhagen. Dates: 22nd – 23rd May 2026
Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen is an annual beer festival where good beer and the people who brew it are celebrated. It's a beer geek's paradise, as some of the world's best breweries come with very special beers that have been brewed exclusively for the occasion. Taste up to 800 different beers!
Prison Ink
Place: Horsens, Denmark. Dates: 14th – 16th May 2026
The prison facilities in FÆNGSLET in Horsens are host to a different tattoo convention with the focus that everyone can satisfy their curiosity and get an insight into an industry they might not know so well. With around 250 tattoo artists from all over the world, the audience will get to see the artists at work and perhaps even get their own tattoo.
Distortion
Place: Copenhagen. Dates: 3rd – 7th June 2026
Copenhagen's biggest street party and club festival, Distortion, takes place every year in May/June and attracts nearly 300,000 people to its street parties, dance, art rock, freestyle hip hop, tech-house, polka and street art. Distortion takes place in a new part of Copenhagen every night and, thus, moves around the city.
Denmark's Outdoor Festival
Place: Silkeborg. Dates: 15th – 17th May 2026
The festival is all about getting in touch with nature. Through various activities, attendees will experience how outdoor activities can inspire a focus on health and well-being. A network of skilled instructors will guide the attendees in a wide range of modes of movement in the unique nature of Silkeborg.
Northside Festival
Place: Aarhus. Dates: 4th – 6th June 2026
The Northside Music Festival in Central Jutland offers a wide array of Danish and International artists. Over the years, the festival has presented a lineup including Arcade Fire, Nick Cave, Robyn, Lana Del Ray, Beck, and the Arctic Monkeys. The Northside Festival has quickly been recognised as an innovative festival that focuses on sustainability.
The Royal Run
Place: Ribe, Viborg, Horsens, Korsør, Copenhagen and Frederiksberg. Dates: 25th May 2026
These unique walking and running family events of 1km, 5km, and 10km were started by Crown Prince Frederik, the now King of Denmark, as a way to get everyone in Denmark moving. The host city changes each year, apart from Copenhagen, where you can cross the finishing line waving at his palace – and spot him running! He still takes part every year!
Heartland Festival
Place: Kværndrup (Egeskov Castle). Dates: 18th – 20th June 2026
Heartland is a cultural festival set in the beautiful Egeskov Castle in Funen. It offers a new type of festival, combining four key elements: music, food, art and conversation. Heartland aims for a high level of quality through cooperation with key local partners.
Copenhagen Photo Festival
Place: Copenhagen. Dates: 11th – 21st June 2026
The largest Nordic festival of its kind is once again zooming in on and raising awareness about the art of photography. The work of both local and international contemporary photographers will be portrayed at several galleries, museums, photo schools and cultural institutions all over Copenhagen.
Rock Under Broen
Place: Middelfart: Dates: 12th – 13th June 2026
Rock under the Bridge is a music festival in Middelfart that has been held every summer since 1989. The festival is Denmark's largest one-day festival. It is held next to Lillebælt on Fyn, under the new Lillebælt Bridge.
3daysofdesign
Place: Copenhagen. Dates: 10th - 12th June 2026
A platform to showcase and celebrate great design, 3daysofdesign is a festival for dreamers, doers and the design curious. You will have the opportunity to meet the designers shaping the creative landscape of tomorrow, and to see masterpieces by legends who paved the way before them.
Copenhell
Place: Copenhagen. Dates: 24th - 27th June 2025
Copenhell is an annual outdoor rock and metal festival. During four days in June, Refshaleøen and the former B&W shipyard in the Danish capital transform into a haven for metalheads worldwide. The festival is one of the most popular metal events in Northern Europe.
Fanø International Kite Fliers Meeting
Place: Fanø. Dates: 18th – 21st June 2026
Each year in June, 5,000 kite owners meet up at Fanø to create the world’s largest kite rally. For 14 days, visitors can enjoy amazing views of a sky dotted with kites in every shape, size and colour. Some are homemade, others shaped as fantasy or film characters, while some are more traditional.
Copenhagen Sprint
Place: Copenhagen. Dates: 13th – 14th June 2026
In June, cycling fans can witness the launch of Copenhagen Sprint, a premier event on the UCI World Tour calendar. Beginning in Roskilde, an ancient city home to Viking history, this race will wind through Frederikssund, Hillerød, and Humlebæk, ending with a thrilling loop through Copenhagen. Designed for the world’s top sprinters, Copenhagen Sprint will offer an exciting spectacle of speed and skill. Festivities throughout the weekend will celebrate Danish bike culture, including a free public race where locals and visitors alike can ride the same route as the pros.
Tinderbox Festival
Place: Odense. Dates: 25th – 26th June 2026
The multi-genre festival in Tusindårskoven in Odense brings about 40,000 music lovers to H.C. Andersen’s home town. Tinderbox offers everything from EDM to rock to hip hop, featuring both local and international talent.
