7 sustainable convention centres in Denmark
The right venue is about more than capacity and location. We’ve rounded up seven convention centres across Denmark and some of the initiatives and practices worth knowing about when planning your next event.

Why your choice of convention centre matters
There’s more to choosing a convention centre than square metres, capacity and location. What happens behind the scenes matters too. How a venue uses energy and resources, handles food and waste, and runs its day-to-day operations can all be part of the bigger picture when choosing where to meet.

Bella Center Copenhagen
From food waste initiatives, roof-top honey bees, a strict Supplier Code of Conduct, and keeping up with Green Key standards, Scandinavia's largest congress centre doesn't kid around when it comes to sustainability. The new multi-arena, Bella Arena, was even built using upcycled Carlsberg beer kegs. How cool is that?

Scandic Aarhus City
Welcome to one of the biggest conference centres in Aarhus - where bees share their rooftop living space with rows of glistening solar panels. Boasting the Nordic Swan Eco Label (meeting strict environmental standards), testing water-reduction technologies, and serving up local, organic and 60% plant based food, it's no wonder that Scandic City Aarhus was named Denmark's most sustainable venue in 2021 by Momondo Climate Award.

Green Solution House
One of the few climate-positive event venues in the world, Green Solution House in Bornholm may be the ultimate sustainable conference venue. Built solely on sustainable materials, Green Solution House features more than 75 sustainable initiatives such as swapping lawn mowers for grazing sheep, reusing bath water for toilets, turning food waste into bio fuel and paving park paths with recycled glass from local glassblowers.

Odense Congress Center
The future is green in Odense. Odense Congress Center has worked hard to receive it's Green Key certification in 2022 and is now one of the biggest conference centres in Denmark to boast the certification. Food waste programs, LED lighting, water initiatives, and organic food makes it possible for you to meet in Odense with a clear conscience.

Tivoli Hotel & Congress Center
Green Key certified Tivoli Hotel & Congress Center competes with the best when it comes to going green. Using remote cooling to reduce carbon load by 70%, collecting rainwater, swapping bottled water for dispensers and implementing green roofs that promote biodiversity, this venue does the sustainability heavy lifting for you.

Aalborg Congress and Culture Centre
Committed to contributing to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, Aalborg Congress & Culture Center is implementing sustainability into everything they do. From recycling event carpets into bags and computer sleeves to sorting waste and being 100% powered by wind energy, sustainability has become key to successful events.

Alsik Hotel & Spa
A bit smaller on the convention centre scale, Alsik Hotel & Spa in South Jutland is taking an active part in the area's Project Zero vision to be completely carbon neutral by 2029. Using green district heating, solar panels, and LED lighting, Alsik is already 78% carbon neutral. Alsik also houses three restaurants featuring acclaimed chef Jesper Koch and local South Jutland produce, as well as Denmark's largest spa.
