Panorama Cykling Route

Enjoy the views over Roskilde Fjord and discover charming villages, deep forests, and the beautiful Ice Age landscapes that define Fjordlandet and the Skjoldungernes Land National Park along the Panorama Route.

Take your bicycle on a varied route through scenic fjord landscapes, idyllic villages, and areas steeped in history. Along the way, you’ll ride small roads surrounded by woods and water, past cobbled streets and traditional half-timbered houses.

Experiences Along the Way

Feel both the breeze and the breath of history as you cycle through the medieval city of Roskilde and the picturesque, well-preserved villages of Herslev and Kattinge.

On the route, you'll pass through the charming district of Sankt Jørgensbjerg, known for its beautiful half-timbered houses and one of Denmark’s oldest churches, Sankt Jørgensbjerg Church. This area offers stunning views of the Roskilde Cathedral (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the Roskilde Fjord. You'll also pass by Denmark’s smallest church with a spire, Kornerup Church

If you fancy a swim, park your bike and take a dip in the fjord at Herslev Beach or by the clay slope in Boserup Forest.

Refuel Along the Way

If you get hungry on the route, there are plenty of cosy cafés to stop at.

Visit the café in the greenhouse and explore the sensory gardens at Skt. Hans Have, or drop by a world champion chocolatier and the local brewery, Herslev Bryghus — excellent spots to enjoy both nature and local flavours.

The bike tour can be shortened at various points, and it starts/ends at Stændertorvet in central Roskilde.

Stay the Night

Along the route, you’ll find many free shelters with beautiful views, perfect for staying overnight. This way, you and your bike can get even closer to the landscape, nature, and cultural heritage. For example, enjoy the sunset over Roskilde Fjord from one of the many shelters in Boserup Forest or by Herslev Beach.
