BaneGaarden

BaneGaarden is Copenhagen’s green food and culture destination, created to provide a platform for sustainable development. Nine large old wooden barns, a greenhouse, and more than 1.5 hectares of wild nature make up BaneGaarden, a green oasis, organic village, peaceful haven, and gastronomic gathering point.

Far from the city noise, yet still in the heart of the city, ideas grow wildly, and projects flourish. The old barns were built by DSB (Danish Railroad company) in 1909 and have been restored from A to Z, now housing a food market, events, cultural programmes, a restaurant, a bakery, and much more – all with the vision of contributing to the green transition through enthusiasm and inspiration rather than finger-wagging. At BaneGaarden, you can find:

PERRON
The organic sourdough bakery PERRON serves butter-baked pastries, crispy pizzas, and cold and hot beverages.

FOOD STALLS
Experience organic street food
from around the world, such as hotdogs from Foderbrættet, Karlos Ponte’s South American soul food from PMY, crêpes, couscous, or other temptations.

EVENTS
From crayfish parties, salsa, bingo, and clothing markets to long-table dinners, brunch in the greenhouse, and concerts – BaneGaarden hosts large and small guests, locals and tourists, large companies or small school classes, for many different events, either in the large courtyard under the fairy lights, inside one of the fine old wooden barns, under the tree canopies in the wild garden by the chickens, or in the completely isolated greenhouse, which you can only find if you walk through a secret, green path. To find out which events BaneGaarden is hosting while you are in Copenhagen, you can see their event calendar here: BaneGaarden Events.

RESTAURANT
BaneGaarden’s restaurant experience varies with the seasons and utilises the area’s different facilities
as well as seasonal ingredients. For example, in the summer of 2024, you can visit BaneGaarden’s Summer Restaurant, located in the rebuilt greenhouse with views of the open sky and large tree canopies.

HOW TO FIND IT
BaneGaarden is a hidden gem, but it's easy to find. It’s only a 15-minute walk from Enghave Plads Metro station or a 15-minute bike ride from Rådhuspladsen.
