Ejby Mose

Wild bog nature ten minutes from the motorway

East of Ejby, Ejby Mose spreads out as one of Funen's largest bog areas. Marked trails lead you through a landscape of peat ponds, reed beds, wet meadows and thickets – and you will easily forget how close you are to both town and motorway.

Follow Sporet ved Ejby og Kingstrup Mose (the Ejby and Kingstrup Bog trail), a route of around 4.8 kilometres, where the character of the landscape shifts with every bend.

Some 245 different plant species have been recorded in the area, and birdlife is rich. In spring the nightingale sings from the thicket, marsh harriers hunt over the reed beds, and at dusk you might be lucky enough to spot noctule and pipistrelle bats over the water.

Waterfowl and birds of prey also live here, and Ejby Mose is in many ways a textbook example of how biodiversity is maintained and encouraged.

Nature restoration began in 2015 and included newly created trails. The ground can be wet, especially in winter, so sturdy footwear or rubber boots are a good idea. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead. Parking is available at Ejby.
