Hornum Lake

Hornum Lake, northwest of Støvring, is a lovely place for a day outdoors – with swimming, fishing, a shelter site, a campfire area and plenty of space for both play and peaceful moments.

The lake is beautifully situated with a long lakeshore and a large grassy area where you can settle down with a blanket, a picnic basket or your swimwear. Here, you can enjoy nature close to the water, take a dip from the municipal lakeshore or use the area as a base for a stay with shelters, campfire and outdoor life.

Swimming and time by the lake

Hornum Lake is suitable for swimming from the municipal lakeshore. The lake has an average depth of approx. 1.46 metres, and the deepest point is around 2.6 metres.

By the lake, you will find a large grassy area with plenty of room for relaxing, playing and spending time outdoors.

Shelters, tents and campfire

At Hornum Lake, there is a public campsite with simple facilities for an outdoor stay.

Facilities include:

• 2 shelters
• Possibility to pitch a tent in the area by the shelters
• Campfire site
• Firewood – please bring your own saw and axe for chopping the wood
• Water tap, open seasonally from 1 April to 31 October
• Toilet, open seasonally from 1 April to 31 October
• Several picnic tables
• Waste bins

Fishing

You can fish from the municipal lakeshore at Hornum Lake. Species found in the lake include pike, perch, roach and rudd.

The southwestern side of the lake is owned by private landowners, and public fishing is not allowed here. Remember to bring a valid fishing licence if required, and please show consideration for swimmers.

Boating

You may use non-motorised craft on Hornum Lake, such as SUP boards, canoes and kayaks. Motorised boating is not allowed.

Parking is available by the lake.
