Feel the Christmas peace descend upon FÆNGSLET's enormous Christmas market and spend a couple of cozy hours in the uniquely decorated surroundings.

Explore over 200 stalls, stroll along the charming Christmas alley, visit Santa Claus, and indulge in treats like Æbleskiver (Danish Christmas donuts), rice pudding, and other Christmas delights.

Discover the best gift ideas in design, vintage, and decorative art in the carpenter's workshop, the Gymnasium, and the Warehouse.

Embark on an adventure in the enchanting winter landscape and the elf town of Snekøbing, take a ride on the Polar Express, take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage or snap this year's Christmas photo in front of the snow cannons or the 5x5 meter large Christmas light ball.

Don't forget to explore the extensive delicacies section, where you can treat yourself to a variety of festive delights.

Join the opening parade

Once again this year, you can join the Christmas parade on the opening day, Friday 13 November. Look forward to a festive atmosphere with Santa Claus, the Christmas Patrol, a spectacular fire show, sing-alongs, and the grand switch-on of the illuminated façade featuring more than 20,000 lights.

Schedule and tickets

Due to its immense popularity and demand, Jul På FÆNGSLET is held over six days in November. In 2025, it attracted 40,000 visitors.

In 2026, the Christmas market will take place on the 13th-15th and 20th-22th of November.

Tickets can be purchased at the door (at the gate leading into the prison courtyard). There may be a line upon arrival, but dedicated and skilled staff at the ticket booth ensure that the wait is never too long.

About the organizers

Christmas at FÆNGSLET is organized in collaboration between FÆNGSLET and Habengut Marked. FÆNGSLET boasts extensive experience in hosting large events – from music festivals to fairs, medieval festivals, and stadium concerts. FÆNGSLET is also home to Europe's largest prison museum, a dining establishment, accommodation behind bars, and activities in the prison park.

Habengut Marked regularly visits FÆNGSLET with their large flea market. In other words, it's not just during the Christmas season that you can indulge in a shopping spree for flea market finds at FÆNGSLET.
