Koutrupgård Campsite

In the midst of beautiful nature, close to popular nature attractions as the source of the Gudenå River and Rørbæk Lake, you come upon this lovely shelter site with three shelters. Staying overnight at the site is free of charge.

Shelter site at the great watershed

This shelter site offers you a primitive overnight stay in spectacular natural area with several of the biggest nature attraction in Denmark nearby. Just one kilometre from the site, you find the sources of the two largest watercourses in Denmark, the rivers Gudenå and Skjernå, which are both part of Denmark’s Nature Canon. The source of the Gudenå is also where you find the beginning of the Gudenå trail – and the remains of the very first water park in Denmark. Furthermore, there are only 200 meters from this spot to the Hærvejen trail and two kilometres to Tinnet Krat and Rørbæk Lake. In other words, it is a superb base for nature experiences.

About the shelter site

The shelter site is located in beautiful, peaceful surroundings, close to the Koutrupgård Nature Centre. The site consists of three shelters, one fire pit, and a composting toilet. The site is nicely sheltered from wind and weather by a hill on three of its sides. Remember to bring your own toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Collecting firewood from the forest floor is permitted, but if you want to ensure the wood is dry, you may want to bring your own. You have access to water and public toilets at the Koutrupgård Nature Centre.

Booking

Anyone may stay overnight at the site, unless it has been booked in advance.
Booking is reserved for associations and larger groups. Otherwise, a first-come, first-served principle applies. If the shelter is not full, make room for others. Each shelter can accommodate 8 people.
