Kulhuse Harbour lies where Roskilde Fjord meets Isefjord, at the northern tip of the Hornsherred peninsula, north-west of Copenhagen. Leisure boats, ferry traffic and a nearby sandy beach make it a varied stop on a fjord trip.

Arriving by boat

The harbour welcomes visiting sailors and participates in Frihavnsordningen, a reciprocal harbour scheme for participating boating clubs. Harbour fees can be paid by MobilePay or in an envelope placed in the harbour office door. Follow the harbour’s arrival and payment guidance.

Contact the harbourmaster or assistant for the toilet access code. Showers and electricity have separate conditions. A slipway and mast crane are also available; arrange access with the harbour.

Beach and ferry to Sølager

Kulhuse Beach is next to the harbour. The M/F Columbus ferry connects Kulhuse and Sølager in season. Check the sailing timetable when planning your outing.

A coastal defence from the Napoleonic Wars

Behind the harbour are the remains of Englænderskansen, built in 1808. Together with the fortification at Sølager, it protected the narrow shipping channel and the gunpowder and cannon works at Frederiksværk. It is a nearby stop for a walk into local history.
