Mossø Lake in Rold Forest

Mossø is a small, atmospheric lake in Rold Forest. Although the lake covers only around five hectares, it is well worth a visit. Surrounded by spruce forest, Mossø resembles a peaceful Swedish forest lake, with green surroundings and a strong sense of being close to nature.

On the northern side of the lake, a floating mat of sphagnum moss extends gradually across the water. Here, you can find several species of peat moss, cranberries, clubmoss and the rare dwarf cornel. Plants growing in and around the lake also include water lobelia, bilberry, bog bilberry and sundew, as well as three types of heather: common heather, cross-leaved heath and bog rosemary.

A path runs around Mossø, allowing you to experience the lake from different angles and enjoy the varied natural surroundings along the way.
