Skarø is a small island in The South Fyn Archipelago, located at the mouth of Svendborgsund. The island is known for its open landscapes of salt marshes, dikes, sand reefs and coastal paths, making it easy to explore on foot or by bicycle. From Skarø Kirke, situated on the island’s highest point, there are views across the surrounding archipelago.

Skarø By lies close to the harbour and features traditional half-timbered houses gathered around the village pond. The island’s history can be experienced in the apothecary garden, which reflects traditional knowledge of medicinal herbs, and at the cemetery, where the graves of two British airmen commemorate events from the Second World War.

The island also offers a vibrant local community with a music festival, crafts, museum, marina and local producers. Visitors can experience Skarø Is and Sommersild Gårdbutik, which sells products from the island’s organic Gutefår sheep. Regular ferry services make Skarø an ideal destination for both day trips and longer stays.
