In July and August, Stændertorvet, Roskilde’s central square, is transformed into a lively urban space filled with summer vibes, inviting you to relax, play and socialise. Enjoy the green surroundings, explore the market stalls on market days, and soak up the atmosphere in the heart of Roskilde.

Relax in the heart of the city

In the centre of the square, you’ll find three mirrored pavilions built by local craft students. These structures serve as playhouses, information points and creative zones, providing access to outdoor games and activities. There are also long communal tables and open seating areas, perfect for a break or a friendly chat.

A place for play, movement, and performance

Children can romp about in a large sandpit filled with natural balancing elements such as tree stumps and logs from the nearby Boserup Forest. The area has been carefully designed to encourage play and learning in a safe environment.

Hunt for local treats

On market days, Stændertorvet is transformed into a lively marketplace with delicious local delicacies, various handicrafts and antique treasures to suit every taste. Experience the market atmosphere every Wednesday and Saturday throughout the summer.
