A palace steeped in royal history

Built in 1722 by King Frederik IV as a royal retreat, Fredensborg Palace remains a key residence for the Danish royal family. The palace hosts state visits, receptions, and royal celebrations. An old tradition allows visiting heads of state to engrave their signatures on the palace windowpanes.

Discover the royal family's private oasis

The summer tours include access to the Reserved Garden and the kitchen garden, usually closed to the public. The garden, shaped by Queen Ingrid and Queen Margrethe, offers colourful flowers, shrubs, and trees. Discover the royal playhouse and the impressive orangery that supplies fresh flowers and vegetables to the court.
