Hedeland Vintage Railway – Heritage Trains and Museum in Scenic Hedeland
Hedeland Vintage Railway takes visitors on a nostalgic journey through the former gravel pits of Hedeland. Here, historic trains, beautiful nature and the story of Denmark’s industrial railways come together in a recreational landscape with space for both relaxation and exploration.

Hedeland Vintage Railway offers an approximately 5 km train ride through a varied landscape where former gravel pits have been transformed into a green area rich in wildlife. The trains are operated by steam and diesel locomotives between 60 and 100 years old, once used on Denmark’s narrow-gauge industrial railways.
Experiences Along the Line
There are eight stops along the route where passengers can get off and explore the surroundings. The area features a nature playground and opportunities to discover the unique terrain. Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy the outdoor setting, with tables and benches available along the line.
For some, the journey is a nostalgic experience; for others, it is an introduction to Denmark’s railway heritage.
Visit the Museum and the Carriage Shed
The Carriage Shed houses an exhibition about Denmark’s industrial railways, displayed through original carriages and locomotives. The exhibition presents the history and significance of industrial railways, and visitors can also see rolling stock awaiting restoration.
Combine the train ride with a museum visit for a deeper insight into an important chapter of Danish industrial and transport history.
