The opera performances take place in open heathland, where grass, stone and water form a natural part of the stage design. The amphitheatre follows the contours of the landscape and offers a distinctive and immersive way of experiencing opera, with the surroundings enhancing the overall atmosphere.
Opera in the landscape
Productions are developed specifically for the location, taking both acoustics and the visual expression of nature into account. Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic basket and blanket, supporting a relaxed setting that appeals to both dedicated opera audiences and first-time visitors.
Large-scale productions
Opera Hedeland presents its own productions featuring international soloists and a full orchestra. The circular stage of approximately 800 m² is used for major performances and can accommodate several thousand guests, depending on the production and audience layout.
