This hearty dish is one of the most delicious on the Danish table, and it's easy to make. Best of all, it's got a quirky name ('Brændende kærlighed' in Danish) and has nothing whatsoever to do with Elvis! Roll up your sleeves, get a potato masher at the ready, and let's begin!
Peel the potatoes and cut them into large pieces.
Cook the potatoes until they are tender. Drain the water and shake off the potatoes, but do not let them cool.
Add milk, butter, salt and pepper and mash the potatoes.
Fry the diced bacon until golden brown. Drain most of the fat.
Dice the onions and fry in the remaining fat until golden.
Arrange the mashed potatoes on a plate.
Sprinkle the parsley over the mashed potatoes, and mix in the bacon and onions.
